Linked In Is #1

If you are looking for a job or trying to fill a position and are not using Linked In you are missing out!

According to a recent study, almost 100% of job seekers use this social media site for job hunting. *

Hiring managers, recruiters and Human Resource professionals also use Linked In to fill their open positions. Actually, more than half of these head hunters use social media to post jobs which is why you need to be involved with the action!

It’s easy and the best part is that it is free. Simply create a profile on linkedin.com, upload your resume and start connecting with people. Networking really does work wonders! It is far more effective to apply to two or three jobs where you have a personal connection than it is to apply to 100 jobs where you do not know anyone and cannot communicate with a real person beyond an automated process.

Technology is a very strong staple in the latest hiring trends but still doesn’t replace human contact and networking.

Connect with groups and search LinkedIn job listings as well as job boards on company sites.

If you find a job online that interests you, use your connections and try to make a human connection. Reach out by sending your information, try emailing or calling to get an interview. Sometimes positions have been filled and need to be taken down, so by doing this you can find out if this is current.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS pay attention to their requests! If the ad says no phone calls please then do not call!

After Linked In, hiring managers also use Facebook, Google+ and Twitter to find potential candidates through social media. 65% still report to using common job boards (Careerbuilder, Monster, Indeed) as well as company websites. It is no doubt that print media barely registers on a scale with today’s communication technology.*
